BCSA Postcard Photo Contest

Let’s show off this beautiful town! Enter your finest “Bamfield: West Coast Magic” photos in our postcard contest! The top 10 photos will be celebrated at a gallery event on November 24th. The top 3 winning photos will be made into Bamfield postcards, which will be available for sale at various locations in town, and these 3 photographers will also be awarded with exciting prizes!

All proceeds from this contest will support our children’s programming initiatives, allowing us to offer kids programs for free.


Sept 1 – Nov 1: Send your photos to First entry is free, all subsequent entries are $5 each to raise funds for kids programs. Entries must be submitted in .jpg or .png format 

Nov 1 – Nov 10: Contest closes Nov 1. The top 20 photos are chosen by BCSA and made available for public to vote on until midnight Nov 10 

Nov 24: BCSA will host a public gallery event to announce & celebrate the top 10 photos. The top 3 photos will be made into postcards for sale throughout the community and the photographers will be awarded some excellent prizes! Contact Renee at with any questions

Submitting Your Photos

1. Send an email to with the image(s) attached in .png or .jpg format

2. In your email, please include: Your preferred name, a title for each of your photos, and tell us your preferred form of payment (e-transfer or cash)

3. BCSA staff will then contact you to discuss payment methods.

4. Cross your fingers and hope to win!

Contest Rules

  1. First entry free; $5 entry fee per photo thereafter. Multiple submissions are welcome, as long as they adhere to formatting rules and the entry fee is paid for each photo.
  1. Photos must be submitted digitally, by email to in the .jpg or .png format. Unfortunately, submissions that do not adhere to these parameters will not be considered in the contest (note: any entry fees paid for these submissions will be refunded to the photographer). Please reach out if you are experiencing difficulty providing your photos in this way, we can help! Photos must be submitted with the photographer’s name and preferred titles for each photo
  1. In addition to letting BCSA use the winning images for postcards, photographers consent to their images be posted on the photo contest page on the BCSA website and on Facebook, to present to the community to vote on. These images will also be used to produce items such as postcards and will be available for resale at locations around town, for a limited run. Once the contest is over, photographers’ names will be attached to their photos on the BCSA website. If you have any concerns about this arrangement, please reach out to Renée at to discuss.
  1. Payments may be made via e-transfer, or in cash. Cash payments must be arranged with BCSA staff. 
  1. Deadline for photo submission is midnight on November 1st, no exceptions.
  1. All accepted photos will be submitted anonymously to a panel of judges (comprised of BCSA board members) who will vote on the 20 submissions that best encapsulate the theme of “Bamfield: West Coast Magic.” These 20 photos will then be made available for the public to vote on; voting closes at midnight on November 10. The top 10 will be celebrated at a gallery event on November 24, with the top 3 winners announced there, and prizes awarded thereafter.

Did your kid grow like a weed this summer? Are there holes in your runners? Do you have a trunk full of beloved vintage bellbottoms that it is time to finally sell?

Join us on Tuesday Sept 12, 4:30 – 7:00pm for our Back To School Clothing Swap & Sale! Don’t let the name fool you; clothing and accessories for all ages are welcome.

If you have items to donate, please arrive 4:30-5:00pm to sort your freebies into the appropriate piles, OR drop items off prior to the event during our community office hours, 3:00 – 6:00pm Tues, Wed, Thurs.

If you have items to sell, please arrive 4:30-5:00 with your items labelled and be prepared to handle your own sales.

Vendor’s fee = $10 per table. All proceeds will be used to support the BCS students!

PLEASE NOTE: BCSA staff will not be responsible for your sales or the transfer of funds!

The most active community in Canada will win $100,000 to support local sport and physical activity initiatives!

Spring has sprung, and we’re excited for the community gatherings coming up this month!

🐰 The Huu-ay-aht Group of Businesses are hosting an Easter Egg hunt at the Pachena Gazebo at 12pm on Sunday April 9th!

🍛 Following an afternoon of egg hunting, you can gather with the community at the House of Huu-ay-aht for a delicious potluck! Sunday April 9th at 5pm.

🍲 Next Thursday April 13th, the Bamfield Community School Association is co-hosting a Hike to High Ground Tsunami Awareness Event and Community Lunch with the Bamfield Community Emergency Program at the Bamfield Volunteer Fire Department East side fire hall!

✌️ Youth 12+ are invited to the school for games, art, safety planning, and other cool activities at the Friday Night Chill on April 14th from 7-9:30pm.

🤾 The BCSA Dodgeball season wraps up with a fun-filled tournament and skills tests on April 20th and 27th from 6-8:30pm! Which team will win the trophy and the glory?!

📖 Books and Brunch, on Sunday April 23rd from 10:30am-12pm, will bring an adorable opportunity to enjoy a family-friendly story time over a nutritious brunch.

🎲 Our next Community Games Night will be Monday April 24th from 5:30-8:30pm, come on down for a variety of board games, sports, and other activities!

🧑‍💻 Join our free Employment Skills Workshops with Work BC facilitators to learn how to write an awesome resume and interview with confidence. 5-6:30pm at the school Tuesday Feb.7 and Wednesday Feb.8; pizza will be provided!
🦪 The Bamfield Aquaculture Program are visiting the Nova Harvest hatchery to learn about oyster farming on Friday Feb.10 from 9-11:30am, contact us to join the field trip!
🎲 Join us for a rousing night of board games and a community dinner at the school on Monday Feb.13 between 5:30-8:30pm!
🧸 Little Buddies Playtime is planned for Thursday Feb.9 and Feb.23 – we hope to see wee ones and their guardians for songs and stories, games and crafts, and playtime with friends!
❤️ The next Anacla/Bamfield Community Potluck at the House of Huu-ay-aht is scheduled for Monday Feb.20! Come and share food and friendship with your neighbours!
📽 Join us in celebrating Black History Month on Friday Feb.24 from 7:30-9pm. Enjoy a night of film screenings and resource sharing that will highlight histories and stories from some of Canada’s diverse Black communities.
🖼 Huu-ay-aht First Nations are hosting a Nuu-chah-nulth Artist Symposium from 9am-6pm on Saturday Feb.25 at the House of Huu-ay-aht and the Anacla Government Office.
📖 Join us for Books and Brunch – breakfast and storytime at the community library – on Sunday Feb.26 from 10:30-11:30!
🤾‍♀️ If you want some fun and silly exercise, come to $5 drop-in Dodgeball on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30pm!
🧘‍♀️ / 🏋️ Yoga and Circuit Training will continue their biweekly rotation on Wednesday nights through the winter – $5 drop in for chill and non-judgemental exercise and breathwork, no equipment or experience required.
🏀 Tuesday night basketball is now taking place at the House of Huu-ay-aht instead of the Bamfield Community School.

Dodgeball League Returns!

The BCSA Dodgeball League is back! Join us on Thursday nights for laughter, exercise, and silliness from 6:30-8:30pm, starting on January 19th. You may create or join a team of up to 6 people for a season of friendly competition, or drop in as a free agent when your schedule allows.

The fee for 14 quality weeks of our dodgeball league is $50 per player; drop ins are $5 per week. Youth 19 and under play for free. The funds we raise through registration and drop in fees support the children’s programs run by the BCSA, allowing us to offer them free of charge. You can get hit by balls for a great cause! If the fee is prohibitive, please reach out – we want everyone to be able to play!

Happy new year! There’s lots of exciting things happening at the Bamfield Community School Association this month, including some new programs and fun events!

🥳 The Friday Night Chill, a chance for youth 12+ to hang out, enjoy games and music, access safety planning and harm reduction supplies, and eat pizza, is on Jan. 6th!
🏀 Basketball is back every Tuesday night for ages 15+. All-ages basketball will recommence in March.
🧘‍♀️ Need a little re-centering after the holiday season craziness? Drop-in Yoga is every other Wednesday from 5-6pm.
🏋️‍♂️ Come get sweaty in a fun and supportive work out environment! Drop-in Circuit Training in the BCS gym will alternate with Yoga every other Wednesday from 5-7pm.
📖 Come share your love of reading with the kiddos at school every Thursday from 1-1:30pm.
🧸 Wee ones and their guardians are invited to Little Buddies Playtime on Thursday Jan. 19 – join us for stories, sing alongs, crafts and play!
🤾 DODGE! DIP! DUCK! DIVE! DODGE! Come try a night of free dodgeball on Monday Jan.9th, and get inspired to form a team for our Dodgeball League, running from Jan.19 – early May.
🍝 Mark your calendars for a Community Lunch on Thursday, Jan. 26th! Charlene is planning a delicious and nutritious meal for us to enjoy, and we encourage you to stay for Reading Buddies. $10/adult, proceeds will buy new books for the library!
🐟 Youth 12-30 are invited to join the Bamfield Aquaculture Program for fun field trips and interesting workshops to learn about local biology and ecology, food sovereignty, and potential job and economic opportunities in our community.
🥞 Come to the library for Books and Brunch on Jan. 28th! We will enjoy tasty waffles and a delightful storytime, and you can borrow some library books to enjoy at home!

Reading Buddies is Back!

Every Thursday at 1pm, starting Oct.27th, community members are invited to the Bamfield Community School to share their love of reading with the students! Volunteers will be paired with students, and will have the opportunity to read children a story, or provide encouragement while being read to by a student.

No registration is required. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first reading buddies for an orientation to the program!
