Sports!

๐Ÿ Monday Night Adult Drop-in Sports continue at the Bamfield Community School from 7-8:30pm.

๐Ÿ€ Join a dedicated crew for Tuesday night Basketball at the House of Huu-ay-aht starting at 7:30pm.

๐Ÿ’ช Join our fun, accessible Group Fitness Training Class on Thursday evenings from 5-6pm at the BCS. Please note, there is no class on Thursday, April 17th.

๐Ÿ’ Adults are invited to Ball Hockey on Thursday nights at the HOH starting at 7:30pm.

โšพ๏ธ The Bamfield All-Stars Tee-Ball League is back! Kids ages 4-8 are invited to join our fun, free weekly league which will run for 8 weeks starting Wednesday April 23rd from 6-7pm in the BCS field.

Arts!

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Come practice mindful breath and movement at Wednesday evening Yoga at the BCS, 5:15-6:15pm. Please note, there is no class on Wednesday April 16th.

๐Ÿ“ธ This month’s Youth Imagination Station after school program will explore sketching and drawing, photography, and beading.

๐Ÿชด We are hosting a Handbuilt Ceramic Pot Planter workshop on Saturday April 26th which is fully booked; contact us to get on the waitlist, or to be the first to hear about our next ceramics course!

Events!

๐ŸŒŠ Join the Hike to High Ground Tsunami Awareness Event and Community Lunch, hosted by the Bamfield Community Emergency Program, on Wednesday April 16th! The Tsunami Alarm will sound at 11:30am, and community members are encouraged to practice hiking to their muster station, and then joining us for lunch and learning at the BVFD East Firehall at 12pm.

๐Ÿฐ The Bamfield Community Hall Society are hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 19th at 11am in Centennial Park.

๐Ÿ” The Community Potluck will be held at the Pachena Beach Gazebo on Monday April 21st at 5pm. Bring lawn chairs, BBQ potluck contributions, and beach games!

๐ŸŒฑ On Earth Day – April 22nd from 4-6pm – come to our Garden Work Bee to help us to prepare a bed for our new Indigenous Medicine Garden at the Community School!

๐ŸŽฎ Youth are invited to the Friday Night Chill on April 25th from 7-9:30pm.

๐Ÿ•บ On Tuesday April 29th, our community will be visited by Dance Fachin, who will be performing an interdisciplinary presentation that fuses climate science, dance and video projections together. Their production is called The Fourth R: Reduce, Reuse Recycle, Revolutionize! All are welcome to join at the School from 12:30-2pm.

Babysitting Course

We are hosting a Red Cross Babysitting Training Course on Friday March 28th!

In this course, youth will learn:

๐Ÿ‘€ How to recognize and prevent unsafe situations
๐Ÿฉน First aid skills
๐Ÿงธ Children’s developmental stages and strategies for each stage
๐Ÿ‘ถ How to feed, diaper, dress, and play with children and babies
๐Ÿ’ How to promote themselves as a babysitter to prospective families

This opportunity will be open to children and youth ages 9-15, though the Red Cross Certification can only be provided to youth 11+. Please contact Bcsa Staff or email bcsacoordinator@gmail.com to register your child in this FREE course, supporting them to become a responsible and skilled babysitter!

Community Film Screening: YINTAH

Next Thursday, March 20th, join us for a community film screening of the acclaimed documentary YINTAH, which follows more than a decade of Wet’suwet’en resistance to resource extraction projects in their territory.

Bring something to share at our snack potluck, starting at 6pm, then settle in with some popcorn to take in this thought provoking and impactful film, which will begin at 6:30pm. Afterwards, we will share in some community discussion and reflect on what we learn together! Hope to see you there!

Drop-in Group Fitness Classes

Join us starting March 13 for drop-in Group Fitness Classes with Alessandra, Thursday evenings from 5-6pm!

Bringing strong experience and enthusiasm to this new program, Alessandra will be coaching community members of any fitness level to feel supported in working towards their own goals. Her Circuit Training Classes will involve variations and customizable exercises to improve strength, endurance, and cardio!

Proceeds from this $10 adult drop-in program will be used to support a new youth volleyball and basketball program (details coming soon!). If cost is a barrier, please feel welcome to join without paying. Youth over age 15 are also welcome to join free of cost!

Community Lunch – March 12

Join us for a Community Lunch at the Bamfield Community School on Wednesday, March 12th at 12pm! Chef Renee is making a delicious salmon sushi bake with Huu-ay-aht First Nations salmon, and a side salad. The suggested donation is $10, and supports our free child and youth programming. Looking forward to gathering with our wonderful community!

โ˜• Join amazing local artist Julie Bradley of Sea Star Ceramics in this exciting upcoming course to make a pair of beautiful mugs! โ˜•

This course will run over 3 sessions from 6:00 – 8:00 pm:
Tuesday February 18 ~ Building your mugs
Thursday February 20 ~ Adding details and carving your mugs
Thursday February 27 ~ Glazing your mugs after the first firing

The cost for this course will be $100, and you can register by emailing bcsacoordinator@gmail.com!

Monday Night Drop-in Sports (ages 15+) are back!

Thanks to community feedback, we have shifted this schedule half an hour earlier, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm, and increased the number of dodgeball nights. Looking forward to seeing you on the court for some friendly competition and physical activity!

Happy new year, community! We are back in school and excited for these upcoming opportunities to gather with the kiddos and our friends and neighbours!

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Yoga with Aneri is back on Wednesday nights from 5:15-6:15pm.
๐Ÿ•บ Bring your youth in grade 7+ to the Community School for the Friday Night Chill this weekend from 7-9:30pm for pizza, games, art, and a fun chill hang.
๐Ÿช… After school club resumes next week – just like in the autumn, grade 4-6 students stay on Tuesdays, and grade 1-3 students stay on Thursdays.
๐Ÿ The Community Potluck is this Sunday at 5pm at the House of Huu-ay-aht.
๐ŸŽจ The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council are hosting a Youth Art Studio at the House of Huu-ay-aht the next 3 Mondays from 3-5:30pm.
๐Ÿคพ Drop-in Adult Sports are back starting Monday night from 7-8:30pm.
๐Ÿคธโ€โ™‚๏ธ We’ll be taking the grade 3-6 kids to the Trampoline Park for a fun field trip on Monday January 20th, the non-instructional day.
๐Ÿ“– In celebration of Family Literacy Week at the end of January, come join the students of the Community School for the Great Big Buddy Read from 12:45-1:15pm on Wednesday January 29th.
๐ŸŽญ The BCSA are launching our new after school Creativity Club for students to explore a variety of artistic and literacy activities on January 29th.
๐ŸŽฒ We will be hosting a Family Games Night during Family Literacy Week, bringing kiddos, caregivers and community members together for board games, laser tag, and a Wii Rockband competition at the Community School From 5:30-7:30pm.
