Nordic Walking is a Finnish-origin total-body version of walking that can be enjoyed both by non-athletes as a health-promoting physical activity, and by athletes as a sport. The activity is performed with specially designed walking poles similar to ski poles.
Unlike methods that rely on speed to get results, Nordic Walking is more about technique. It involves holding a pole in each hand to make sure you use both your upper body muscles, as well as your legs while you walk. This makes you work harder, yet it feels like less effort – win-win!
